God is the great Giver. It is He who leaves us such a gift, a gift of bread and wine, a gift of new life. As we give thanks and as we look ahead to Christmas; remember that it is His birthday we are celebrating, not ours. So, as we surround the tree with presents, may we as well surround our lives with gifts for Him.

What are you getting Jesus for His birthday?

  5. CHRISTMAS IS COMING
[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
I remember, as a small boy, setting out a piece of cake and glass of milk for Santa. I was thrilled the next day to find the cake half eaten and the milk all gone, proving Santa had really come. It is a tradition we have not kept with our own children as we did not want a mythical figure of Santa to one day be interpreted as our believing in a mythical God as well. It is sad to see the number of films at this time of year trying to show the reality of Santa. Our children do not need to see a myth being developed that they will one day discover is untrue. Think about this memory, the significance of a piece of cake and a glass of milk. I had it the wrong way around.

God is the great Giver. It is He who leaves us such a gift, a gift of bread and wine, a gift of new life. As we give thanks and as we look ahead to Christmas; remember that it is His birthday we are celebrating, not ours.
